Bus driver shot by passenger

A bus driver was killed this morning while transporting passengers to work.

According to emergency service company IPSS, who were the first to respond to the scene, the driver was shot by one of the passengers.

“The driver then lost control of the bus before it went down a small embankment,” a statement by IPSS said.

He was declared dead on the scene due to his extensive injuries.

Multiple patients where transported to hospital with minor injuries.

According to a representative at the Tongaat police station, no arrests have been made yet as the suspect managed to flee the scene.

The suspect who has been identified as an African male was allegedly attempting to rob the driver when the fatal incident took place.

The bus belonged to the Tongaat circle bus company.
