Manhunt launched after teens kidnapped, gang raped

A manhunt has been launched for the men who allegedly kidnapped and gang raped two teenage girls in two separate incidents this week, Free State police said on Wednesday.

The girls, aged 14 and 15, were gang raped on Sunday and Monday, police spokesperson Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said.

On Sunday night, four men in a blue Toyota bakkie allegedly abducted the 15-year-old while she was on her way home from a filling station in QwaQwa.

She was taken to a house where she was forced to take tablets, raped and held overnight. Her attackers instructed her to take a bath.  She was left on the streets on Monday morning.

On Monday, a 14-year-old girl from Intabazwe, near Harrismith, was kidnapped, blindfolded and forced into a bakkie while on her way to school.

She was raped in the moving bakkie. She was taken to a house where three other men raped her. Afterwards, a woman who was in the house instructed her to take a bath.

Cases of kidnapping and rape were opened. No arrests had been made.

Last week, six men were arrested after they allegedly raped two girls and left them at a hiking spot in Bloemfontein in February.
