Confront the demon of racism - Zuma
President Jacob Zuma, after a number of disruptions from the EFF and Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota, started his 2016 State of the Nation by addressing the "demon of racism".
"The journey to a non-racial society has not yet been completed. The nation was shaken last month when racism reared its ugly head on social and electronic media, causing untold pain and anger. There is a need to confront the demon of racism," he said.
Zuma said Human Rights Day on March 21, would be commemorated as a national day against racism this year.
He began by saying the country's democracy was functional, solid, and stable.
The president did not get very far into his address as EFF MP Sipho Mbatha kept repeating "honourable speaker" while Zuma continued speaking, acknowledging various important people in the audience.
