A man who came to the aid of a motorist who was being attacked in Plumstead on the Cape Pensinsula on Monday morning has been commended for his bravery by Western Cape Minister of Community Safety Dan Plato.

Kevin Jacobs managed to chase off two robbers who assaulted the motorist with a brick and were busy stealing his personal belongings.

Plato said threats to individual safety and the broader safety of communities required every individual to take a stand‚ as safety was everyone’s responsibility. He applauded Jacobs’ embodiment of this ethos.

“While the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other law enforcement agencies are obviously our first port of call for dealing with crime‚ we also require the whole of society to take a stand‚ support our police‚ and help make our communities safer‚” Plato added.
