Gauteng MEC vows to find places for 16 000 pupils without a school

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said parents of at least 16 000 pupils who have not been placed at schools need not panic.

Speaking at the official opening of Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School in Daveyton, Lesufi vowed to place each and every learner in a school.

"I know many people are worried about the opening of school year with 16 000 learners that are not placed. To me it's a vote of confidence," he said.

"If 16 000 people... [want to] to get an education, it means you are doing good. Its an affirmation that you are providing quality education."

Lesufi said no learner would miss school because they had not been placed this year.

"I want to assure parents that are still worried about placement of children. We will place each and every child in our schools. They must not panic. Our team is out there to resolve this issue," he said.
