Three brothers have been arrested for hijacking and the theft of cutlery in Dutywa, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

"They are linked with a hijacking and armed robbery that took place on Thursday... when a truck that was delivering cutlery was robbed at Nyhwarha Village, Dutywa," police said in a statement.

"The truck was later found abandoned but cutlery to the value of R75 000 was missing."

The three brothers – twins, aged 24, and an older brother, aged 28 – were arrested in the early hours of Sunday.

They have also been linked to another robbery at a shop on the same day in which money and airtime were stolen.

The three siblings are due to appear before the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
