Fatal crashes in KZN

With the road death toll climbing‚ the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health announced that there have been several motor accidents in the province.

Two crashes occurred near Newcastle between 13h30 and 13h50 on Monday‚ the department said in a statement.

In the first accident‚ on the R34 near the N11 intersection‚ a man was killed when the car he was in overturned. Four other people were injured in the crash‚ two critically.

 In another incident‚ 26 people were injured when two minibuses collided on the road between Newcastle and Osizweni. Four people are in a serious condition.

In northern KZN‚ a 22-year-old man died when the minibus he was in collided with a car on the R33 at Scheepers Nek‚ between Dundee and Vryheid. Paramedics from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services treated 18 people who sustained injuries.

An eight month-old boy and a two-year-old girl were among the injured‚ who were all taken to the nearest hospital.
