Oscar Pistorius to be released on parole on Tuesday

Culpable homicide-convicted paralympian Oscar Pistorius will be released next Tuesday, according to reports on Thursday.

Broadcaster eNCA and SABC reported that he would be released on October 20 and the parole board sat today to discuss his fate.

Correctional Services department officials would not confirm the reports, saying a statement would be released at the end of the day.

Lawyers for Pistorius, however, told eNCA's Karyn Maughan that they are not aware of a release date.

Pistorius was found guilty in September 2014 of culpable homicide, the equivalent of manslaughter, after he fired four 9mm shots through a locked toilet door on Feb. 14, 2013 killing model and law graduate Steenkamp.
