The Arch is on the mend

Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s daughter‚ the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu‚ said on Monday her father’s treatment was proceeding well‚ and that both his doctors and the family were very pleased with his progress.

She was speaking in Cape Town after a visit to the archbishop in hospital by Lesotho’s King Letsie III.

“This good news is thanks to his dream team of doctors‚ the warm diligence of an exceptional nursing team‚ and the power of the prayers and well-wishes of so many people around the world. On behalf of my dad and family‚ I cannot thank you all enough‚” Reverend Canon Tutu said.

The 83-year-old Nobel peace laureate was admitted to hospital last week for the third time in recent months for what was described as “a slight inflammation”.

He spent some time in hospital earlier in August for a recurring infection‚ which was unrelated to the prostrate cancer he has been fighting for some 18 years.
