A baby boy named Letlhogonolo was born at the Tarlton South African Police Service’s client service centre at about 03:30 on Thursday.

According to the SAPS’ official Facebook page‚ a pregnant woman walked into the service centre at about 02:00 and informed the members on duty that she had called an ambulance as she suspected she was about to give birth.

The woman was received by constables Dickson‚ Matlhaba and Baloyi.

Constable Baloyi‚ who has training in “basic ambulance assistance”‚ put his training into practice and helped deliver the baby.

National Police Commissioner‚ General Riah Phiyega‚ congratulated the police midwives “for going beyond the call of duty and for working as a team in assisting the woman”.
