Diddy still the richest man in hip hop

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has maintained his status as the richest hip hop star.

His famous words ‘ten years from now I will still be relevant’ resurfaced on Tuesday when Forbes.com named Diddy the richest man in the hip hop music industry.

Diddy is so close to making a billion dollars its exciting. His current net worth is reported to being around $735million.

He managed to surpass Dr Dre, who claimed he was going to be the first billionaire in hip hop when he signed a $3billion deal with Apple for his famous headsets.

It seems Dre spoke too soon as taxes dealt him a heavy blow which saw him pocketing only $500million.

Dre sits closely behind Diddy on the hip hop rich list with an estimated net worth of $700million, about $35million short of Diddy.

Beyonce’s hubby, Jay-Z comes in third with a net worth of about $550million.

Here is a list of the top five richest hip hop stars:

1. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs - $735million

From deals with Ciroc vodka, clothing lines Sean John and Enyce, water brand Aquahydrate, tequila DeLeon and multimedia network Revolt.

2. Dr Dre - $700million

From deals with Apple for his headphone range Beats.

3. Jay-Z - $550million

From purchasing music streaming service Tidal and other deals such as Armand de Brignac champagne.

4. Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson - $155million

He is said to still be enjoying the fruits from his mineral water deal Vitaminwater in 2007. He also has a vodka deal with Effen and Frigo underwear.

5. Bryan 'Birdman' Williams - $150million

He is reported to have dropped down the list as there seems to be a lot of uncertainty around Cash Money Records following Lil Wayne’s departure.
