A police constable is being investigated after video footage showed him allegedly taking money from a crime scene in Pretoria, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
The constable, a fingerprint expert, had attended to a burglary at a fruit and vegetable outlet in Pretoria north two weeks ago, spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza in a statement.
"The footage shows the officer pocketing the cash after sending employees at the shop outside."
"Criminal and disciplinary proceedings will, in accordance with SA Police Service disciplinary code, be instituted against the member. His suspension from the service is being processed."
The constable joined the police force in March 2008, Kweza said.
