Twelve people injured in Alexandra shooting

A four year-old along with 11 other people sustained injuries during a shooting incident at Pan African Mall in Alexandra on Friday afternoon.

Netcare 911 has confirmed the police are investigating the incident.

"Exact detail to the cause of the shooting and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment," said Netcare media liaison Chris Botha.

Netcare 911 medics were called to the scene at the mall shortly after the shooting incident.

"Netcare 911 and the provincial paramedics arrived at the scene and found that twelve people consisting of adults and children had sustained moderate injuries. "

The twelve patients have been transferred to various hospitals.

"After medics treated the injured at the scene they transported them to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required."
