Four more busts linked to international child porn ring

Four more people have been arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography as police make further inroads into an alleged international child pornography ring operating in South Africa.

Police spokesman Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said three suspects were arrested in Hercules‚ Pretoria‚ while another was arrested in Cape Town.

The 47 year-old Cape Town man works as a broker and was arrested late on Tuesday night.

He is currently in custody at the Fish Hoek Police station and is due to appear in the Simonstown

Magistrate court on Thursday.

The three Pretoria suspects‚ two men and a woman whose ages range from 41 to 56‚ appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday where their case postponed until Friday for a bail application.

They will remain in custody until then.

During the arrests in Pretoria and Cape Town‚ police also confiscated six cellphones‚ four desktops‚ a laptop and three USBs.

According to Naidoo‚ the arrests‚ like others before‚ have a global connection to them and comes after authorities in Belgium arrested a person for production‚ possession and facilitation of child pornographic images.
