The ugly side of a beauty pageant has rocked the recently launched Miss Heritage contest.

A Zimbabwean man has accused local organisers of stealing a concept that he owned.

The international pageant is said to stand for advancing World Heritage and, at this stage, two duplicate events are being organised - one in Harare and another in Sandton.

The Joburg-based Zimbabwean pageant founder and president Tare Munzara sent out a statement alleging that Mandla Mkhize and Nhlanhla Shabangu "self imposed" themselves as CEO and chairman of his hijacked pageant.

He alleges the men were called during a logistics crisis last year when the show was held at Silverstar Casino near Krugersdorp.

Munzara accused Mkhize and Shabangu of abusing their power and taking advantage of the contestants.

Munzara said: "Miss Heritage 2015 held in South Africa is being hosted by perverts who are stealing the pageant from Zimbabwe to make it a South African product."

Shabangu became a national star as part of Twins, the R&B singing quartet from the 1990s. His twin, Lucky, was arrested in May for allegedly stealing a Porsche.

Mkhize has asked for more time to consult his publicist. Shabangu could not be reached for comment.
