DJ's slain girlfriend slapped him: friend

The slain girlfriend of former Jozi FM DJ Donald “DJ Donald Duck” Sebolai allegedly got in a hit or two of her own during the couple’s turbulent relationship.

She had seen this herself‚ a friend of the couple‚ Palesa Matladi Seseli‚ testified on Wednesday.

Sebolai‚ 38‚ is on trial in the South Gauteng High Court‚ sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court southeast of Johannesburg‚ for allegedly stabbing Flavia Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala‚ 32‚ to death at his Soweto flat on June 29 last year.

The DJ also faces charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice for allegedly stealing Tshabalala’s car and removing evidence from the crime scene.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Seseli on Tuesday told the court that she had gone with Tshabalala to Jabulani Police Station twice to lay complaints of assault against Sebolai. Tshabalala withdrew both complaints later‚ she said.

But under cross-examination on Wednesday by defence advocate Thabang Mathopo‚ she said that the couple were generally happy and in love.

She also said that they were both jealous lovers and told the court of another incident at her home in Rockville‚ Soweto.

Sebolai and three others were visiting Seseli when Tshabalala arrived uninvited‚ Seseli said. Tshabalala then asked Sebolai about the woman he was with‚ and he replied that she was a friend.

The woman‚ however‚ identified herself as Sebolai’s girlfriend‚ Seseli said.

Tshabalala then allegedly slapped Sebolai several times. According to Seseli‚ Sebolai did not retaliate.

The trial continues.
