Police investigating arson in C-Live fire incident

The Jeppestown police are investigating a case of arson following the death of popular DJ C-Live’s 11-year-old son in a blaze.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai who is based at the Johannesburg central police station revealed to Sowetan LIVE that C-Live, real name Clive Shabalala’s family has opened a case of arson and it was allocated to an investigating officer this morning.

The Club 808 content producer was involved in a fire incident at his Bez Valley home on Monday morning and his son died.

"A case of arson and inquest was opened. The docket was allocated to an investigating officer who is currently driving around", Warrant Officer Munyai said.

"He informed me that he will be going to the hospital to interview Shabalala," he explained.

According to Munyai, the investigation is still in its early stages and the police cannot reveal much.

He also said that another child sustained injuries in the blaze and is still undergoing treatment.

E.tv Managing Director Monde Twala has expressed the channel’s condolences.

"We are devastated to learn of C-Live’s injury and the tragic loss of his son. We wish him all the strength through this period."

"Our thoughts are with Clive and family during this difficult time. We hope that he makes a speedy recovery," he said.
