Prasa confirms resignation of former head of engineering

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) on Monday confirmed that it had received an official letter of resignation from its former head of engineering services at Prasa Rail‚ Daniel Mtimkulu.

“This comes after Mr Mtimkulu was charged with gross dishonesty and fraudulent misrepresentation in that he had failed to produce of his engineering and PhD qualifications‚ which he claimed to possess‚” a Prasa statement said.

“As part of Prasa’s governance protocols‚ a criminal case of fraud was opened against Mr Mtimkulu citing the misrepresentation of his qualifications.

“The case was opened on Saturday‚ 24 July 2015.”

Mtimkulu claimed to have a BTech in engineering‚ a master’s and doctoral degree. He also did not register with the Engineering Council of South Africa‚ according to earlier reports.
