The Avalon Cemetery has become a “crime hotspot”‚ the Kliptown sector of the South African Police Service has warned.
At least three cases of vehicle theft whilst funeral services are being conducted are currently being investigated.
“The community is urged to always park their vehicles where they can be able to see them.” Kliptown SAPS said in statement.
“Furthermore‚ when visiting the graveyard‚ community members are warned to be in pairs or more‚ and not accept help from the strangers as that is when the unsuspecting victims are taken advantage of and robbed of their items.”
Suspicious people and/or vehicles can be reported to the Kliptown SAPS on 071 675 6525.
