Policeman stabbed in Diepsloot

A policeman was attacked and stabbed in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said the officer was found in a pool of blood in front of his room in Extension 4, on Tuesday night.

"The member had multiple stab wounds on his body, on the chest, in the neck and at the back. The member has been admitted in a hospital in the intensive care unit."

The motive for the attack was not known, she said.

He was attached to the Diepsloot police station.

Mogale said a man was arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the stabbing, and charged with attempted murder.
