Motsoeneng up in arms: 'This is just the beginning, it’s not the end'

Hlaudi Motsoeneng has clear intensions of challenging the court’s decision to suspend him.

The Western Cape High Court ordered the SA Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) to suspend Motsoeneng with immediate effect and face a disciplinary hearing.

This comes after Democratic Alliance's (DA) bid to the court to stop Motsoeneng from being appointed the chief operating officer.

Motsoeneng has told the SABC’s website that he has instructed his lawyers to apply for leave to appeal as he believes this forms art of a political ploy.

"This is just the beginning, it’s not the end. I’m happy because in this country, we follow due process, we respect the courts of this country. But I mean we can also appeal and let’s see what other judges will say about this matter. I still believe I am not guilty and I am excited because I know it’s just politics,” said Motsoeneng.

DA’s bid follows a released report by the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela which found Motsoeneng guilty of increasing his salary from R1.5 million to R2.4 million in one year.
