Gigaba to donate wedding gifts

HOME Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba plans to give away the gifts he received at his wedding last month.

He is scheduled to donate the goods to a charity in Durban next week.

His spokesman Mayihlome Tshwete could not name the charity as the details were not finalised.

Gigaba tied the knot last month at the Botanical Gardens in Durban.

The gown of the bride, Nomachule Mngoma, was designed by David Tlale and the stunning decor and scrumptious menu qualified the event as one of the top billing weddings of the year.

Political heavyweights, members of the cabinet, celebrities and businesspeople competed for space under the large marquee.

Celebrity events planner Gavin Rajah coordinated the shindig which guests left with fragrant candles and a bottle of home spray embroidered with a G for Gigaba.

The gifts came in big white boxes also embroidered with a G sign.

Guests also took home copies of the photos they had taken in a photo booth during the wedding ceremony for free. The photos had the G signature and the words "Gigaba wedding" at the bottom for the guests to remember the occasion.

The wedding celebrations ended at the groom's residence in Emandeni for the traditional part of the wedding, where Gigaba showed off his new wife and mother of his twin boys to the community where his father is a prominent pastor.

There too guests including members of the community, were treated like VIPs in a huge glass marquee where they enjoyed lunch, catered by top events planner Nto Majozi who also organised Bheki Cele's and Khulubuse Zuma's weddings.
