June Steenkamp to pen a memoir

Reeva Stenkamp’s distraught mother, June has announced her plans to write a memoir on her daughter.

UK publication, The Independent has reported that the late model's mother will soon be publishing a book of her own.

Titled, "Reeva, A Mother’s Story", the book will according to Steenkamp be a “painfully honest and unflinching” writing which will deal with her emotions on the Oscar Pistorius trial and the verdict thereof.

The memoir is expected to detail how June Steenkamp had to attend all 42 court appearance in hopes of a proper closure only to watch the man who shot and killed her daughter get acquitted for murder and be found guilty of a lesser sentence of culpable homicide.

This will be the first time South Africans will be getting an inside look into the Steenkamp family and the pain experienced by them during the much publicised court trial.

According to recent reports Oscar Pistorius also plans to write a book detailing his events of the night he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and subsequently the trial, so it will be interesting for readers to hear both sides of the story.

“Reeva was a beautiful and intelligent woman. She was always so much more than just someone’s girlfriend.

She devoted her life to helping people around her and she believed passionately in human rights. She was set to make her mark on the world. That opportunity was taken from her,” said June Steenkamp in a statement quoted by The Independent.

June Steenkamp said that the book is a way of making sure that her daughter is never forgotten as she has “to do the best for her now she has gone.”
