Nkandla locals in KwaZulu-Natal did not raise questions about President Jacob Zuma's private home in the area, ANC treasurer general Zweli Mkhize said on Monday.

"People are only talking about development. All they want to know is timelines for them to receive specific services," Mkhize said after visiting Nkandla.

"They tell us they have seen the ANC-led government constructing houses as part of the rural housing development across the river from them, and they are only interested in knowing when this development will come their way."

Zuma's home in Nkandla has been in the news because of expensive security upgrades it underwent.

About two weeks ago, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela said Zuma and his family unduly benefited from the upgrades.

Mkhize said during his campaigning in the rural town, there were problems like water provision which the government would attend to.

Mkhize also said the residents had informed him of other political parties in the area who were using state resources and service delivery as a political tool.

"We will be looking into these complaints and necessary steps will be taken against those parties involved," he said.
