SA reacts to DA, Agang SA merger

Many South Africans have taken to social media to express their views on the Agang SA and DA merger.

DA leader Helen Zille announced during a press conference that Political party Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele will be the Democratic Alliance's presidential candidate in the upcoming general elections.

Here are some of the reactions:

@stoanito: When joining #AgangSA did you know you were joining #DA ???

@MyNameIsM0: AgangSA never stood a chance from the beginning. Excellent move!

@xolelwanx: a political breakthrough for SA. Two women with common interest to build a better SA. Lets put race and emotions aside.

@PhutiM: One of my 2014 resolutions was to change my vote to new formed parties. but move by @AgangSA. Leader shows many are lost.

@MTshwete: I call on the Public Protector to investigate whether or not members who paid for Agang membership, will get their money back.

@phillipdewet: I really thought Agang and the DA would wait until after the elections to merge. Ramphele's internal projections must have been disastrous.

@Pol_Sec_Analyst : South African politics: More interesting than FIFA's football transfer window. Although if i was #DA, I'd loan #Agang instead of buying it

@Syassessor:  Mamphele has a great business profile as a doctor and corruption free leader against Zuma. Good move to DA.

Carlton Mmaswi Mmela: I wonder why people are suprised by Mamphela's move to DA. She always got handouts. She was a director of companies because of ANC B.E.E policies, she is not someone who has to work to get to the top, hence she accepted the handout from DA.

Maria Dladla: Wow! Anything to get rid of Zuma!! But S.Africa is not ready for a female president. ANC must produce one who is highly enlightened than Zuma!!

Madise Polo Paul-Zuhair Mphuthi: That's a good move for our country and we need a change in politics. We all love the ANC but i think we should vote the DA in power to solve our problems.

Oliki Hlalele: These coalitions are going 2 change politics in RSA now. I like it. It's "Wa lala wa sala" 2 small parties & a wake-up call 2 de ruling party. Democracy is now beginning 2 entrench in de society.
