Woman's sex tape horror - loses R7000 to conman over video

A WOMAN who was forced into having sex with a man posing as a recruitment agent was dealt a double blow when he extorted money from her by threatening to release the video of their sexual encounter.

When she could no longer take the pressure of his repeated demands for money and sex, she reported him to the Rabie Ridge police outside Midrand.

Police spokesman Constable Jacob Mhlongo said the man was arrested and is out on bail.

He is facing a charge of extortion.

The electrical engineering graduate recounted her ordeal at the hands of the man to Sowetan yesterday.

She said she met him in June 2012 in Mayibuye, Tembisa. He told her he was a recruitment agent and asked her to bring her CV and copy of qualifications to a back-yard room he rented in Mayibuye.

She said she gave in to his demands to have sex with him a month after their first meeting because she was desperately looking for work.

"He refused to use a condom. It was not easy but I was desperate. I had to do it," she said.

She said the man continued to call her and assured her that he was still helping her find a job.

The woman later found work on her own and when the man found out he began to threaten her. He said he had made a video of their first sexual encounter and would post it online if she did not give him money.

"He forced me to take a R2500 loan and I did."

She said she took out another R1000 loan for the man a few weeks later. She was forced to apply for loans again as the man's demands did not stop.

She said that in August last year he demanded to have sex with her again.

"I went to him and he slept with me again. I did not feel it, I just did it. I wanted to protect my relationship."

She said the last time she had sex with him was in September last year when she was a few weeks pregnant with her boyfriend's baby.

"I told him that I was pregnant but he did not care."

She said after she had her baby in May this year he demanded R1500, which she paid.

"He demanded more money but I was not working at the time because I worked contract jobs. He instructed me to get the money from a loan shark."

She then decided to turn to the police for help.

"I was ashamed. I almost committed suicide but my friend discouraged me. He made my life a living hell.

"I still do not feel safe. If the video goes public, it will destroy my life," she said.
