'Axe parolee in court for stabbing wife'

A man, out on parole after killing three people with an axe in 1999, is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court next week for allegedly killing his wife, Beeld newspaper reported on Saturday.

Mario Allers, 42, allegedly killed his wife Carol, 51, at their house in Randparkrif, Randburg at 2am on Wednesday.

According to the report, Carol Allers was stabbed three times in her back and once in the arm.

Mario Allers appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Friday and applied for legal aid.

He is expected to appear again on Thursday.

In 1999, a 27-year-old Mario Allers, was arrested for the murder of his mother, grandmother and best friend.

He allegedly hacked his parents, his friend and grandmother with an axe at the family home in the Bluff, north of Durban.

The findings of the district-surgeon indicated that Allers was mentally unstable to stand trial and that he suffered from drug-induced schizophrenia.
