De Villiers, is a qualified Chartered Accountant CA (SA) who joined Vodacom in 1995 as Head of Expenditure before helping to establish Vodacom Sport and Entertainment (Pty) Ltd in 1998. After initially joining Vodacom Sport and Entertainment Pty (Ltd) as Financial Director, De Villiers was appointed as MD of the company in 2001 following SAIL Group's acquisition of the company.
In 2003, De Villiers was appointed as MD of SAIL Group and played a key role in the formation of the SAIL Group strategy and the subsequent delisting of the company in 2005. Now known as MARC Group, the holding company manages various investments within the marketing, sport and entertainment industry across the African continent..
