Alleged hijacker nabbed in Rivonia

A man has been arrested for allegedly hijacking a vehicle in Rivonia on Friday morning, Johannesburg metro police said.

Officers directing traffic on the bridge over the N1 in Rivonia noticed a car being driven recklessly and bumping into other cars, spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

"Officers gave chase after he knocked down a woman on a motorcycle. It was discovered that he had hijacked the red Atos from about two blocks away."

The motorcyclist was not seriously injured. The man, in his 30s, would be charged at the Sandton police station with hijacking and reckless driving.
