Former police and NPA spokesman Makhosini Nkosi said on Sunday he would close his massage parlour after the Sunday Times reported it was a brothel.

"The firm will be shutting down as it can longer function after the publication of these false allegations," Nkosi said in a statement. He also runs a private public relations company.

He said he was not aware of any criminal action taking place at the Randburg property, which he termed a "lodge".

"There are no illegal activities taking place on the premises that have been brought to my attention.

"On the premises there are masseuses who offer deep-tissue massage, Swedish massage and sensual massage".

He said the masseuses and guests paid R200 an hour to use the lodge's facilities.

"Masseuses who work from the premises are independent, adult businesswomen."

Nkosi was quoted in the Sunday Times as describing the parlour as "an interesting B 'n B" and "an adult lodge for discreet encounters".

He was reported by the newspaper as explaining why pornographic videos were shown in massage rooms, by stating: "haven't you heard about happy endings?"

Nkosi's PR company is located on the same premises.

He recently had a three month contract with the SA Police Service in which he dealt with Marikana comments.

Previous positions include being the spokesman for the NPA from 2003 to 2006. He also worked in the public enterprises department in 2011.

On Sunday, Nkosi said he would be taking legal advice on a further course of action.

He also said he wanted an investigation into how the Sunday Times accessed a private e-mail sent to national police commissioner Riah Phiyega, and which was quoted in the newspaper.

Nkosi reportedly wrote in the e-mail that he had seen "hostility" in media reports about Phiyega and that "we have to repair these relations".
