Lady Grey municipal manager arrested

Senqu municipal manager Mxolisi Yowa has been arrested for alleged assault in Lady Grey, Eastern Cape, the Hawks said.

He was arrested with three other people on Tuesday, said Captain Paul Ramaloko.

A Hawks investigating officer was allegedly assaulted while at Yowa's office, collecting documents relating to a fraud case being investigated against him, Ramaloko said.

He was allegedly denied entry into the building and manhandled, he said.

Yowa, a department director, an attorney and the mayor's bodyguard were arrested.

They were expected to appear in court soon on charges of assault, interference and resisting arrest.

Ramaloko said the fraud investigation related to a quote for rent and storage Yowa gave the municipality when he moved from Aliwal North.
