Hollywood comes to Parliament

HOLLYWOOD came to Parliament yesterday. "Don't feel jealous and think I am going to be an actor, no. Maybe it rubs off, who knows!'' President Jacob Zuma joked as he shook movie star Danny Glover's hand on the steps of Tuynhuys yesterday.

Glover met Zuma ahead of his scheduled meeting with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) in Johannesburg today.

The Lethal Weapon and TheColor Purple actor, who also played Nelson Mandela in Mandela, is in the country with a delegation from the United Automobile Workers Union of America.

"Our sister union, the UAW from the USA, would be undertaking a working visit to South Africa to establish solidarity links with Numsa in a campaign to unmask the exploitation of Nissan workers in Mississippi, USA," a Numsa statement read.

The union lauded Glover for his "commitment to the cause'' of workers.

Zuma paid tribute to him too, calling him a "good man in the world" and a brother who is always welcome in South Africa.
