A man arrested in connection with Happy Sindane's murder had fought with him over a bottle of brandy the night before.
Investigating officer Captain Vusi Mahlangu told The Star the fight at the JZee tavern in Tweefontein, Mpumalanga, started when the man refused to share his bottle of brandy with Sindane.
They stopped fighting when people at the tavern intervened. Sindane was found dead in Tweefontein on Monday. Police suspect he had been stoned to death.
A 58-year-old man, known to Sindane, was arrested on Tuesday and is due to appear in the KwaMhlanga Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
In 2003, Sindane made headlines when he claimed he was a white boy kidnapped by black people.
The Bronkhorstspruit Children's Court found in September 2003 that Sindane's real name was Abbey Mziyaye and he was the son of a black domestic worker, Rina Mzayiya.
The court found his father was probably a white man, Henry Nick, who employed Mzayiya in 1984. He was born that year.
The whereabouts of both were unknown.
