Rape suspect's shack burnt

THE house of the man charged with the abduction, rape and murder of his neighbour's 11-year-old daughter in Mmakau, Brits, was burnt down yesterday morning.

The three-roomed shack was allegedly set alight in the early hours of the morning, the police said.

Captain Adele Myburgh said police were alerted about the house at about 5.30am.

She said "on arrival at the scene, the shack had already been totally burnt down". There were no reports of injuries and no arrests had been made.

The 41-year-old man is to appear in the GaRankuwa Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for a bail application.

Ofentse Mogale was abducted from her room at about 2am while sleeping. Her body was later found in the accused's bedroom. She will be buried in Maboloka on Saturday.
