Violent love triangles in Soweto

Two love triangles turned violent in separate incidents in Soweto on Wednesday, with one man killed and two others ending up half-naked in a police station, Gauteng police said.

In the first case, a man was stabbed to death and a woman injured when they were attacked in their house in Braamfischerville.

The man died on the scene while the woman suffered serious stab wounds, said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

The couple’s three-year-old child, who was sleeping with them, was unharmed during the attack on Wednesday morning.

“So far it has emerged that the attacker is the woman’s lover,” Makhubela said.

In the second incident, a man fired shots at his wife and another man after he found them in bed together in Zola on Wednesday morning.

“He took out his firearm and fired at them. They both escaped unharmed through the window,” said Makhubela.

The two, who were half-naked, ran to the police station to seek help. The man followed them and told police his side of the story.

He was then arrested and charged with attempted murder. Police found two cartridges in the bedroom.

The 53-year-old will appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
