Manyi denies sacking

By Sapa | Jun 08, 2012 | COMMENTS [ 14 ]

Government spokesman Jimmy Manyi has denied a report on Friday that he received a letter indicating that his contract would not be renewed.

“There is no such thing, it is a complete fabrication,” Manyi said.

Harold Maloka, spokesman for Minister of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Collins Chabane, echoed these sentiments.

“The minister did not have a discussion with Manyi regarding his contract and there was no such letter.”

The Mail&Guardian reported that Manyi had received a letter from Chabane to inform him that his contract would not be renewed when it expired in August.

An unnamed government official was reported as saying:

“Effectively [Manyi] has been sacked from government, in particular for repeatedly making embarrassing remarks”.

Another official claimed Manyi’s comments on the Gauteng e-tolls were “thoughtless”.

@MicaParis
"We discovered that he was used by the anti Zuma brigades to make wrong ''loud mouthing'' so that the Government and the President can be found wanting and perceived as not knowing what they are doing" anc paranoid is setting in...LOVL btw MicaParis the zuma regime doesnt' know what they are doing,the firing of one another is bcoz they are panicking, if they knew what they are doing they wld be emboldened by the upcoming Manguang conference mos, they wld be taking with them facts proof of what has been achieved iro their mandate from plkn.

@KeRataBasadi but Jack Daniel Mthembu is exactly gifted iro public speaking, I guess Mannyi allowed his arrogance of thinking he has arrived to stand on some sensitive anc toes, but if contract is not renewed it wld be the only decent thing anc regime did under zuma.

With or without Manyi, E-Toll still stinks, he is just a turd in a free state open toilet.

It was a bad move in the first place to hire this bully in a position where he is going to be the face of government. He has no training in terms of handling the media and covered his weaknesses by being down right rude and arrogant. He failed dismally and high five to his predecessors, they did a sterling job.

He needs some assistance in mastering the art of communicating.
