ANCYL leader taken off list of delegates

Pro-Motlanthe man allegedly found in possession of a stolen register at the ANC's nomination conference

ANC Youth League chairman in Limpopo, Rudzani Ludere, who supports Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to take over from President Jacob Zuma, has been taken off the list of delegates who will attend the ruling party's national elective conference in Mangaung.

Ludere was allegedly found in possession of a stolen register at the ANC's nomination conference last week. The discovery led to the provincial leadership expelling him from the conference.

Yesterday, provincial ANC secretary Soviet Lekganyane said they would also institute disciplinary action against him but that this would only happen after Mangaung.

"The focus now is on Mangaung. His conduct has also brought the image of the organisation into disrepute," Lekganyane said.

Ludere, who is also the chief whip of Makhado municipality, was also accused of "declaring that the knives were out for ANC deputy chairperson, Dickson Masemola".

This allegedly followed Masemola's vocal support for Zuma to get a second term as ANC president. Approached for comment yesterday, Ludere said: "This is the work of a faction within the ANCYL."
