A Benoni man was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping two women and killing one of them by the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, Gauteng police said.
Bennet Hobeyane, 25, was arrested in Benoni last year for the crimes, committed in Lenasia in August last year, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said. He broke into the women’s house and attacked them.
The court sentenced him to 15 years for house robbery, four years for house-breaking and theft, and five years for attempted murder. He was further sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and got another two life sentences for the two rapes.
