Bus crashes into bridge

A SA Roadlink bus was towed to Laanglagte testing station after it lost control and collided with a bridge on the M1 north, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department said

“The bus collided with a bridge on 11 Avenue off-ramp on the M1 north about 5.15pm. Its steering mechanism was defective and caused it to lose control,” spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said on Sunday.

The driver and four passengers — two men, a woman and child — suffered minor injuries.

Minnaar said the bus was towed to the testing station for roadworthy tests.

“The licence disc of the bus was confiscated. The owner will have to fix the bus and apply for a new licence disc.”
