Nurses at the Soshanguve Clinic in north Gauteng reportedly turned away a woman who then gave birth on the pavement outside.

According to witnesses, this incident took place last week on Thursday, and nurses only came out to help when they called the police.

"This is really shocking. There is no excuse for this to have happened," DA health spokesman Jack Bloom said in a statement.

"The Gauteng Health Department must investigate this speedily and take disciplinary action against those responsible."
