President's wife donates mobile clinic on World Diabetes Day

The clinic was paid for by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordis

Mrs Bongi-Ngema-Zuma will on World Diabetes Day, 14 November 2012, donate a diabetes mobile clinic to Mercy Clinic in Winterveldt, a statement said.

Named 'The Changing Diabetes Bus', the clinic is a corporate donation by global pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk to the Foundation, with the Foundation in turn donating it to Pretoria North clinic, as a legacy project to cement the relationship the two organisations established two years ago.

About 370 million people live with diabetes worldwide and an estimated 6.5 million of these are South Africans.

As part of the activities of the day, there will be education about and screening for diabetes as well as associated diseases including BP and cholesterol.
