Murder accused 'stripped, burnt stolen car'

ONE of the men accused of killing a Pretoria mother and her two daughters during a house robbery at their home, stripped parts of her car but later decided to burn it following media reports about the murder.

Thifhelimbilu Mashau and her daughters, eight-month-old Avheani and four-year-old Adivhaho, were killed at their home in Teresa Park, Pretoria North, in July 2010.

Sipho Masiqa, 34, Raymond Matshaba, 27, and Bradley Molefe, 34, stand accused of three counts of murder, rape, kidnapping and house breaking in the Pretoria High Court. They all pleaded not guilty.

Avheani and Adivhaho were strangled in the house while their mother's body was found in an open veld in Garankuwa. Her VW Polo, appliances, jewellery and other items were stolen.

Yesterday Warrant Officer Rufus Baloyi testified that Mashau's half-naked body was found by shepherds in the veld on August 1.

Jacob Molapo, a friend of Matshaba, testified that Matshaba came to him driving a VW Polo two days after the murder. He said he needed a place to park the car.

"He came back the next day saying he wanted to remove car doors," Molapo said.

"The next day he came back with a newspaper carrying a photo of a woman who had been killed with her children and the car. He told me it was the same car and he wanted to burn it.

"I refused to let him burn it in my yard and he took it into the veld," he said.
