An appeal for an extension of bail by convicted murderer, singer Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye, was denied by the High Court in Johannesburg.

Judge J Coetzee said he agreed with the Protea Magistrate's Court's finding that Maarohanye had failed to prove exceptional circumstances to support the extension of his bail.

"There appears to be little, if any, supporting grounds advanced by him," said Koetzee.

Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala were found guilty of four counts of murder and two of attempted murder by the Protea Magistrate's Court on October 16.

Four school children were killed and two were seriously injured in an accident while Maarohanye and Tshabalala were drag-racing in Soweto in March 2010.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place on November 30.
