Free State police have intercepted information that there might be disruptions during the coming ANC elective conference in Mangaung in December this year, provincial commissioner General Kehla Sithole said.

"Our intelligence has intercepted serious information about people who are planning to disrupt the ANC elective conference in December," he said on Friday at the launch of the Duty Calls Festive Season Operation in Bloemspruit.

"We are taking this information seriously and have put all measures in place to ensure the smooth running of the conference."

Sithole refused to reveal who the alleged culprits were and what kind of disruptions they were planning.

"Each and every car that will be coming to the conference will be thoroughly searched," he said.

"There will be roadblocks on all major routes.

We are fully prepared."

The police will also be deployed to strategic areas, including known hot spots across the province.
