A Jabulani, Soweto, man allegedly poured acid over his wife when he heard she was about to divorce him, Gauteng police said.
"After realising his wife was about to divorce him, he allegedly went to her house and poured acid on the woman's head," Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.
She suffered severe burns during Thursday night's attack. Her relatives reported the crime to the police.
The 44-year-old man would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of attempted murder.
