Toddler's corpse found on farm

THE Groblersdal area has been hit by yet another tragedy, with the body of a two-year-old toddler having been found on the farm Krokodilsdrift on Friday.

Limpopo police spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the body was discovered by farmworkers, who alerted the police.

Mulaudzi said preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was strangled to death. Though the body appeared to have been lying in the area for more than a week, no case of a "missing person" had been opened.

"A woman's shoe was found next to the body and we suspect it belongs to the person who was with the girl, who might have been abducted," Mulaudzi said yesterday.

Mulaudzi said though sniffer dogs had been dispatched to the area, no breakthrough had been made.

The death of the young girl brings to five the number of women who have died mysteriously in the area.

Mulaudzi said they were still searching for 28-year-old Dinah Morulaneng Lekola, who was reported missing on May 27.

"We are not ruling out the possibility that a serial killer might have struck again," Mulaudzi said.

This is the second body to be found on the same farm. The body of an unknown woman was discovered by the farm owner in April while he was reportedly on a routine patrol.
