THE police believe they may finally have found evidence that can be used to bring down one of Johannesburg's biggest drug kingpins.
A raid yesterday netted dagga and ephedrine valued at more than R10-million. Ephedrine is used to manufacture drugs like methcathinone, known as Cat on the street, ecstasy and mandrax.
The stash was found in a container in a storage warehouse in the industrial area just off Eloff Street in the city centre.
The drugs were covered with toilet paper and mattrasses.
National police spokesman Colonel Vishnu Naidoo said: "This container belongs to a 34-year-old Nigerian man. He is well known to the police as a notorious kingpin.
"We sent a team to his house in Honeydew and arrested him and his 26-year-old South African girlfriend. We found more drugs at the house."
