THE South African Communist Party (SACP) leadership in Gauteng is scheduled to meet with their ANC counterparts, today, to express their displeasure over Premier Nomvula Mokonyane's recent cabinet reshuffle.

Sowetan understands that the meeting will particularly centre around the appointment of Nkosiphendule Kholisile as provincial economic development MEC, whom the communists clearly disapprove of.

Kholisile - a former SACP provincial chairman - found himself in the party's bad books in 2007.

His past association with former SACP Gauteng secretary Vishwas Satgar apparently resulted in him being viewed, as an opponent of party boss, Blade Nzimande.

Last year he was accused of bringing the party into disrepute, hauled before a disciplinary hearing and found guilty, after he opposed the disbandment of the Linda Jabane district - the biggest in Gauteng.

He is understood to have written a letter to district leaders, in which he is said, to have informed them that the decision to disband their structure had not been finalised.

The provincial executive - of which he was part of, did not take kindly to his actions.

During the party's provincial congress in March this year, delegates recommended that he be expelled from the SACP.

However, it is understood that the decision, has yet to be ratified by the central committee which was elected recently in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal.

It is also understood that provincial leaders no longer regard Kholisile as an SACP member, the reason why they are unhappy with his appointment.

Party leaders are expected to bring this point to the fore when they meet with provincial ANC leaders this afternoon.

Kholisile was promoted to Mokoyane's cabinet about two weeks ago following the resignation of embattled former local government and housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi.

This was after numerous reports had surfaced, alleging that he had misused his official credit card.

Fairly new to the upper echelons of power in Gauteng politics, Kholisile was made member of the provincial legislature in 2009.

Attempts to get a comment from Kholisile were unsuccessful.
