Public Protector to meet Chief Justice

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will meet Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng in Pretoria on Tuesday to discuss complaints about the country’s courts.

“The meeting will also serve as a stakeholder introductory meeting between the Public Protector and Chief Justice Mogoeng, who assumed his responsibilities as the Chief Justice and the chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) last year,” Madonsela’s spokeswoman Kgalalelo Masibi said in a statement.

“Among the issues to be discussed is the work of the Public Protector on matters relating to courts. These include complaints about misplacement of files, delayed appeal applications and other matters.”

She said Madonsela had worked closely with Mogoeng’s predecessor, former chief justice Sandile Ngcobo.
