Former ANC Member of Parliament shot dead

FORMER ANC MP David Dlali has been found murdered near his farm in Matatiele, Eastern Cape, the party said

Dlali was found dead yesterday morning, spokesman for the Chief Whip's office, Moloto Mothapo, said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a hard-working and committed servant of the people through a senseless killing."

Dlali served as an MP between 2001 and 2009 before joining the Ministry of Women, Children and People with Disabilities as adviser to Minister Lulu Xingwana.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Miranda Mills said Dlali was found with gunshot wounds near his farm.

No arrest had been made.

"We are investigating the motive for his death."
